Mary Ann Fore ’74 is retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and University of South Carolina, Columbia. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Michael Charles Pate ’77 recently retired, but is still self-employed part time. He has four great-grandchildren.

1980s
Mark S. Hinson ’80 is retired but remains an entrepreneur.
Michael Massey ’81 is a retired teacher, coach and athletic director from Union County Schools in South Carolina. He has one grandchild who plays baseball and another who does gymnastics.
Kimberly (Kim) Sullivan Deering ’83 is married with three adult children. She serves as president elect for the Junior League of Spartanburg, and is an adjunct instructor at three institutions of higher education, including USC Upstate.
1990s
Ingrid Tucker Anderson ’94 is in her 28th year in education. She has been married for 31 years and has four children. She is also an adjunct professor.
Paula Denise Blackwell ’95 retired from York School District 1 in June 2024. She is currently teaching in the kinesiology department at Coastal Carolina University and coaching varsity softball at St. James High School in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
Estelle Cornwell Stevenson ’96 was promoted to state director for the Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem program in October. She has been with the GAL program since 2013, serving as the county director for the Chester and Fairfield office.
Edria Rowland Emory ’97 got married on May 28, 2011, and now has an 11-year-old son. She works for a nonprofit.
Robert (Bobby) Logan Wilder ’97 has run 25 consecutive Boston Marathons since graduating from USC Upstate. He has run a total of 48 marathons in 12 states. Bobby has been working for Horry County, South Carolina, for three years with the Assessor’s Office.
Kathleen (Katie) Malone ’98 is starting her 25th year of being self-employed as a business owner and triathlon coach.
Erin Svendsen Meyer ’98 is married with two teenage children, one of whom is looking at Division I colleges for softball. She is retired after working in law enforcement for 26 years.
2000s
Brian K. Sanders ’03 is married and is a high school basketball trainer and coach.
William Bradley (Brad) Wingo III ’06 recently attended the NCAA Regionals at Clemson, thanks to Coach Sweeney, the staff, and the players. He took his dad and three children with him.
Julia Miller Denesha ’09 is director of development & corporate partnerships at Western Carolina University. She is happy to be making a direct impact in the lives of young people today.
Kevin G. Hand ’09 was married in 2010. He has four children. He has been a middle school teacher, Teacher of the Year in 2019-2020, a math instructional coach, a student pastor, and is now the lead pastor at Blacksburg Church of God.
Novo Bertorelli ’09 was married in 2013 and has two children. She moved back to Venezuela after graduating from USC Upstate in 2009. Since then, she has lived in Madrid, the Netherlands, and now resides in Barcelona.

Vernette Porter ’09 is a licensed therapist in South Carolina and a nationally certified counselor. Outside of her job, she provides clinical supervision for provisional licensees and is a part of the Investigative Review Conference with the Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Counselors and Psycho-Educational Specialists. She received her M.Ed. in counseling and development, with a concentration in clinical mental health counseling, from Winthrop University in May 2014.
S. Andrew (Drew) Stowe ’09 earned an M.A. in professional communication and a Ph.D. in rhetorics, communicastion, and informational design from Clemson University. He now serves as an associate professor of English at Anderson University.
2010s
Bobby J. Davis ’10 is married and has three teenage children. His oldest child is a student at USC Upstate, and his other two children both play varsity basketball. Bobby works at a privately owned gym and does basketball training on the side.
Ashley Anita Dye ’11 has been living in Spartanburg, South Carolina, since she graduated from USC Upstate. She works as a registered nurse at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She is a charge nurse and helps motivate, guide, and be a resourse for nursing services, including new nurses and nurse assistants.
Jessica Murphy Prado ’12 has a new role as operation director at SVT Fuel.
Dustin Corey Salter ’12 is married with two beautiful children.
Brandon Watkins ’14 was honored with the 2025 Outstanding TRiO Achiever Alumni Award – Working Professional by South Carolina TRiO. The award was presented to him at the Wanda Hendrix Bellamy Student Leadership Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Krisa Louise McMullen ’15 has moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, and returned to the special education classroom at a Title I school.
Alisha Dailey Needs ’16 graduated in fall 2025 with a Master of Engineering Management.
2020s

Kirsten White ’20 completed her MBA in project management at USC Aiken. She is executive administrative assistant to the vice chancellor of IT development at USC Upstate.
Courtney Coffy Hynes ’22 married Justin Hynes in August 2025. They met at USC Upstate. She will be graduating in May 2026 from Presbyterian College with a doctorate in occupational therapy.
Kevin Parker Lewis ’22 married Beth Lewis in October 2025.
Jessica Sailors Pryor ’22 is working at Pickens High School as a special education resource teacher and English 1 co-teacher. She is in her fourth year there. She got married to Christopher Pryor in March 2024, and welcomed a baby in August 2025.
Tia Sherrell Richardson ’22 is returning to graduate school to become a psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner (MSN).
Michael James Tardella ’22 was married in 2024. He and his wife just puchased a house in the Atlanta metro area.
Stephanie Nicole Roper ’23 says that this year has been a period of growth. She transitioned from working as a legal assistant in real estate to her current role as senior administrative assistant for Spartanburg County. She enjoys being more involed in county operations and supporting leadership. She graduated in December from USC Upstate with her Master of Science in business analytics.
Laurie Faith Melton ’24 graduated from USC Upstate on December 14, 2024, and got a job in her field on January 9, 2025, as a quality control chemist at Superior Industrial Solutions.
