Who was your favorite teacher, and why?<\/strong>
\nI have four favorite teachers: my second-, fourth-, sixth-, and ninth-grade algebra teacher\u2014Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Wimberley, Miss Renwick, and Mrs. Mansell, respectively. Each of them believed in me and could see what I could achieve even when I didn\u2019t know what to dream of. They had the gift of being able to show me the big, wide world from Littleville, Alabama. They are why I am here today.<\/p>\n

What was your first job?<\/strong>
\nBurger King<\/p>\n

What\u2019s a talent you wish you had?<\/strong>
\nI wish I could play the piano and dance\u2014but not at the same time.<\/p>\n

What book is on your nightstand right now?<\/strong>
\n\u201cMobituaries\u201d by Mo Rocca and \u201cThe Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business\u201d by Patrick Lencioni. As you can see, I have eclectic tastes.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite way to unwind?<\/strong>
\nRetail therapy and television.<\/p>\n

Do you have any pets?<\/strong>
\nI have 2 cats, Spike and Trevor, and 2 dogs, Duncan and Caroline. Spike has her own social media presence (@SpikeFeline).<\/p>\n

What three albums would you want with you on a desert island?<\/strong>
\nHotel California by the Eagles; Sam Cook: Portrait of a Legend; Elvis Presley, The 50\u2019s Masters<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite vacation place?<\/strong>
\nNew York City<\/p>\n

What or who inspires you?<\/strong>
\nMy family inspires me. In spite of challenges, obstacles, and hardship, they keep striving.<\/p>\n

Favorite TV or streaming show?<\/strong>
\n\u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d and documentaries<\/p>\n

What 3 people, alive or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?<\/strong>
\nFranklin D. Roosevelt, Elvis Presley, and Flannery O\u2019Connor<\/p>\n

What five items (not counting pets) in your possession have special significance for you?<\/strong>
\nRobert F. Kennedy campaign materials from 1968, my 1958 Smith Corona Silent Super typewriter, gifts my children made me, my mother\u2019s Thermos bottle, my family\u2019s ceramic Christmas Tree<\/p>\n

Tell us about something on your bucket list.<\/strong>
\nI don\u2019t really have a bucket list. I want to travel and maybe spend tons of time in a beach house somewhere.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your guilty pleasure (food, music, TV or movie)?<\/strong>
\nAndy\u2019s Frozen Custard and \u201cMarried at First Sight\u201d<\/p>\n

Do you prefer the mountains or the beach?<\/strong>
\nThe beach<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite holiday and why?<\/strong>
\nI like Memorial Day because it is the official beginning of summer holiday.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite thing about USC Upstate?<\/strong>
\nI love the beautiful campus, and that it is small enough to get to know the people here. Upstate is a great place to work!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s something most people don\u2019t know about you?<\/strong>
